wow, this is wordy :)

So yea, this is what happens when I get bored :) Amazing my imagination huh? i was thinking about one day illustrating it and giving it to my nephew since he loves books, I just think its a little too wordy, haha, oh but it made me giggle at times :)

enjoy!

Long ago in the little village of Doodlesville there lived a little Doodle named Dudley. Dudley was a young fairy. He was rather pleasant in appearance and all the other fairies loved to be around him. Dudley had shaggy blonde hair that on occasion would fall in front of his striking blue eyes. He lived with his mother and father and little sister, Tinkerbell. Dudley knew all about the animals and plants that lived around the village and loved to take long flights over the village. Dudley’s best friend was also a fairy and his name was Jack. Jack was just as pleasant to be around as Dudley. Jack had shaggy brown hair that was always in his face, so you could never tell what color his eyes were.

One day when Dudley and Jack were flying in the forest, Jack flew right into a large spider web. Oh, it was so sticky, and Jack was stuck.

“Ahhhh” yelped Jack. He knew that getting stuck in a web was not a good thing. His father once got stuck in a web, and nobody had ever seen him since.

Dudley was so shocked to see his friend in such a terrible predicament, that his wings didn’t seem to keep him afloat and he fell to the forest floor in a large heap of leaves. Dudley was speechless, but when words finally came to him, all that he could do was mumble, “I don’t know why we didn’t see it coming. It was right there in front of us.” Dudley’s voice had returned to its full strength, and he belted out, “Oh No! I don’t know what to do. What do we do? Ahhhh! You’re stuck in a web and my wings won’t support me enough to fly home for some help!” Gasping for air he caught his breath and started all over again, “What will our parents say when neither of us return home for dinner? Oh, I love dinner. What if we never have dinner again? I wouldn’t be able to stand the pain of not being able to eat dinner again. I would die of hunger. And I am deadly allergic to starvation; I break out in a bad case of death every time. Why is life this complicated? Why can’t spiders just make cotton pillows instead of sticky webs? Ohhh, I don’t know what to do.”

Jack was trying to compose himself, but he just couldn’t help the tears that seemed to be falling off his cheeks and landing on the ground beneath him. While trying to free a hand to wipe the tears from his face he became very angry that his best friend wouldn’t stop complaining about how everything always went bad for him. Jack struggling to find the strength that he had never found before blared out, “Oh do keep quiet. You’re not the one that’s up here stuck in a sticky web. Now get a hold of yourself and fly up here and help me to get out of this mess. Please!”

Realizing that all his ranting was causing Jack to become angry with him, he declared in a rather weak voice, “Ok.” Dudley stood up as sturdily as he could, even though his knees were buckling and his heart was pounding. With all the strength that he musters up within himself he leapt into the air and started flapping his wings the best that he could. But it was no good; try as he might the air seemed to go straight through his wings. Turning around He saw the problem, and in a frail voice squeaked out the words that would haunt him forever, “My wings, oh my poor wings, they’re broken, ohhh my poor, poor wings.”

Jack slightly overheard Dudley’s frail attempt at a squeak and felt dreadfully sorry for his friend’s misfortune. All the fairies back in Doodlesville judged each other on the appearance of your wings; if your wings were bad you were simply a nobody. Trying to be strong for his wounded friend he said, “Oh Dudley, come on it’s not that bad, once you help me down from this web I’ll help you to make some new wings. They will be amazing wings. Everybody will be so jealous of your amazing wings that they will purposefully break their own wings so that we can make them wings just like yours. Dudley, I know you are upset but you have to be strong and overcome this problem. I know you Dudley, you don’t give up easily, you are strong, I know you are.” Now with a little more strength and sternness in his voice he said, “Dudley, look at that tree. Climb up the tree and see if you can get to the corner of the web.”

Dudley looked up at the web and with a look of pure determination decided to try and climb the tree, his wings shouldn’t get in the way if he tried to tuck them behind his back. He hollered up to Jack, “I’m coming, I’ll try to get up there as fast as I can.” A smile returned to his face as he said, “Just try to stick in there!”

Jack seeing that his friend was returning back to his normal self laughed and said, “I guess I can try.”

Dudley climbed the tree as best as he could, his wings kept falling under him and he continued to rip them even more. He didn’t care his best friend Jack was in trouble and he was determined to do all that he could to help him. Dudley was trying as hard as he could to lighten the mood he kept saying little jokes here and there, and his jokes really seemed to help. Dudley was about halfway up the tree when he said, “Hey Jack, how’s things hangin’?”

“Just fine.” Replied Jack, “Just a little sticky”

“Hey Jack, how’s the bird’s eye view?” Dudley asked with a little laughter, “Hope you’re not afraid of heights. It’s awfully high up there.”

“Dudley, I’m a fairy, I fly all over the place, I’m not afraid of heights. You silly little Fairy,” replied Jack trying to cover a laugh with a cough. Then he said, “Dudley are you almost here yet. I think this web is starting to get even stickier by the second”

“Yeah, I’m comin’ I’ll be there in a sec,” yelled Dudley

Jack heard a little rustle in the branches above his head, he turned and looked, but all he could see was a large black fuzz. “Wait a second,” thought Jack. The black fuzz had started to move, Oh no, now it had popped out a bunch of long sticks, no wait those weren’t sticks at all they were legs, eight legs, the black fuzz wasn’t a fuzz at all it was a “SPIDER!”

“What?” yelled Dudley.

“A SPIDER! A SPIDER! A SPIDER! A SPIDER!” screamed Jack. Jack had never seen a spider so big in his entire life this thing was absolutely enormous. Jack had never been more afraid in all the twelve years of his life. First he was stuck in a giant spider web, and then the owner decides to come home for dinner! Jack continues to scream, “A SPIDER! A SPIDER! A SPIDER! A SPIDER!” because there was nothing else that he could do.

Dudley quickly looked up and saw the most terribly gruesome, hairy beast that his eyes had ever beheld. This spider was gigantic! And he was glaring down at Jack with hunger in his eyes. “I’m coming Jack!” screamed Dudley, “I’m almost there, just a little bit further.”

The spider was coming closer and closer and Jack could now make out every cruel detail of the spider’s hideously evil face. The spider stealthily crawled its way over to where Jack lay. Fear was sinking further into Jack and an escape plan started to form. He started squirming like he had never squirmed before, trying to free himself from the sticky web. But try as he might he became even more stuck, the more he moved the worse it got, it was all wrapped around him now, and he started to think that he would never be able to get free. The spider was practically right on top of him now; Jack could feel the spider’s hot breath on his face. The fear was just too strong for poor Jack; the world soon became black and his fears slipped into a dream. The spider raised his head, opened his mouth, his fangs were glistening with slime…

Meanwhile, back in Doodlesville, every fairy was out searching for Dudley and Jack. Nobody seemed to be able to find them; it was like they just vanished into thin air. Dudley and Jack would always go out together on little adventures in the forest but they would always come home in time for dinner. Where could they be? It was getting dark out and soon all the fairies would retire for the night and return to their searching tomorrow.

“Ahhhhhhhhhh!” screamed Dudley. He had climbed up the tree, over the web, and had jumped down to land on the spider’s back. The spider, shocked by the scream became sidetracked, glanced up and “Ooof!” Dudley landed right where he planned. The spider fell off balance and started to tip to the one side, Dudley leaned to that same side and the spider fell right into his own web.

Ever so carefully, Dudley got off the spider, making sure that it was stuck good and tight. He rushed over to Jack being careful not to step on the web, by only walking on the spider’s back. He kneeled down next to his dear friend and tried to wake him from his lifeless stupor and said, “Come on Jack, wake up. You’re fine, I took care of the spider for you.” Jack just wouldn’t wake up, suddenly an idea came to Dudley, he knew that Jack wouldn’t be happy with him but if it worked, Jack would learn to forgive him. Dudley slowly raised his hand above Jack’s face and…

“POW!” “SMACK!” BAM!”

“OUCH! What was that for?” asked Jack as he clutched his red face.

“Oh Jack you’re alive! Ohhh I just don’t believe it. You almost died, but I saved you. Yes, I did, all by myself. You can call me your personal HERO, cuz I saved you, I sure did. Now you owe me your life cuz I saved you!” squealed Dudley.

Jack, still clutching his face looked up and said “Wow, thanks.”

“Just ‘Wow’ and ‘Thanks’ Golly Jack I saved your life and all you can say is ‘Wow’ and ‘Thanks’. Man, I thought you’d be amazed and awestruck, not practically speechless. Guess I’ll just have to save somebody who knows how to show his appreciation!” Dudley saved all this while trying to hold back his laughter till finally it was just too hard and he started to laugh uncontrollably.

Jack joined in on the laughter, and when finally catching his breath said, “Well if you had really saved me I would already be out of this sticky web.”

“Oh yeah!” Getting right to the point, Dudley started untying the sticky mess, which held his friend.

Darkness was rapidly approaching the forest and the young fairies had to work especially fast to be able to get home before it was totally dark out. Night came too fast and the young fairies wouldn’t be able to make it home, at least not tonight. After much struggling Dudley was finally able to free Jack of the web. They walked across the spiders back to the edge of the web and jumped to the ground in a large pile of leaves. Since it was too dark to go home, the fairies decided to crawl into the leaves to sleep for the night. They would have to get a good night’s rest if they were going to be able to make it home in time for dinner tomorrow.

At the first light of the day the young fairies got up and tried to fix themselves some breakfast. It wasn’t a good breakfast but it would have to work, they split a strawberry and a blueberry, and drank the dew off of a nearby leaf. Now it was time to start making the wings for Dudley.

Jack and Dudley started searching for some skinny twigs and some bright, colorful leaves. After searching for some time the fairies finally found the right types of twigs and leaves that they would use. They laid out the twigs in the form of a pair of wings, and gently placed the colorful leaves on top. They found a long vine and wrapped it around the leaves fastening it to twigs. They stepped back and looked at their creation.

“It, it, it looks, well it looks amazing!” Squealed Dudley, “Wow, you really, we really did a good job. Oh, I just can’t wait to try ‘em on!

Jack stared at the masterpiece they had created, “They really do look good, why don’t you try them on.”

Dudley walked over to the wings, his wings, picked them up and said “Hey can you help me get my old wings off, and these on?”

“Sure thing.” He walked over and started to pull the old wings off, it hurt Dudley just a little, but it had to be done. Making sure to only tear off part of the old wings so he had a place to attach the new wings. Taking a small piece of the vine he wrapped the new wings to where the old ones were and “Voila!”

“Wow, there’re great, I love them, thank you so very much I, I, I could kiss you! but I won’t” Dudley started to flap his wings, slowly, very slowly he started to lift off the ground, he was getting higher and higher. He was flying. “WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!”

Jack decided to fly with Dudley and took off after him. “Hey, wait up!” Thinking to himself Jack said “Man those wings are really good. I might just get rich if I make and sell more wings, or I could just make wing extentions, I might just have ‘a get rich quick plan’ on my hands. Hmmm.”

“Hurry up, I not going to wait for you all day. Come on!” Hollered Dudley back to Jack.

Jack really had to pick up the pace if he was going to catch up. With all the strength he could muster he finally caught up with Dudley, “Phew, that was hard” he gasped, “Those wings really are amazing, you’re so much faster with them.”

“I know, aren’t they just great. I totally love them.” Replied Dudley in a genuinley thankful way.

The fairies had been flying for a very long time, and were almost back home, when Jack heard something in the far away distance. “What was that? Hey Dudley did you hear that?” Asked Jack.

“Hear what? I think that you’re just making stuff up, cuz I didn’t hear anything.” Then it happened again, it sounded like something was screaming. “I heard it that time” replied Dudley trying not to show his fear. “Lets not go that way, what if its a, a, a BIRD” he stuttered.

“It’s not a bird, it sound too, well too fairyish, if you get what I mean. Lets go check it out.”

Dudley was a little hesitant at first, but he wasn’t about to be left alone, so he followed after Jack. Trying to follow the sound as best as they could, they finally came to the source of the screaming. It looked as if was a little fairy, a litle girl fairy, it was...

“Tinkerbell? TINKERBELL!” screammed Dudley. “What are you doing out here?”

“Oh Dudley, you’re alive. Everybody is so worried about you. And Jack you’re here too. Did you fairies hear me I was calling out your names hoping you would come home. And you did.” Said the happy little Tinkerbell. She got up and flew up to meet her brother in the air. She flew right in his arms and gave him a big hug and kiss. “Oh, I missed you so much.” Then jokingly she punched him in the arm and said “Don’t you ever leave, and not come home at night again, you really scared everybody.” Then she flew over and gave Jack a hug too. She grabbed both of them by the hands and said “Come on lets go home!”

They all headed home together. Dudley and Jack told Tinkerbell everything that happened. Tinkerbell was so amazed that they were still alive, that she had to stop flying and give them both a hug again. She kept saying things like “I still can’t believe your alive” and “Wow, I really like your wings” and “You two are going to be my Heros!”

By the time they finally reached the little village of Doodlesville it was time for dinner. They were warmly welcomed into the village by large leaves piled high with foods of all sorts, there were berry cakes, nut rolls, flower pies, and mushroom tortillas, they all sat down and ate their dinner heartily.

After telling everyone about their adventure, they were treated as fairy celebrities. All the village fairies wanted a pair of new wings, and placed their orders for wings to Jack. Jack started manufactoring wings up the whazoo, and Dudley opened a wing shop, and Tinkerbell did all the advertising. The little village of Doodlesville will not soon forget the two adventurous fairies: Dudley and Jack.
